Polestar will change the name of its electric Precept car when it hits the market in 2024.

Polestar Precept sedan, a concept car that has become a manufacturing project, now has a name and a release date. Polestar 5, the organization's electric presentation brand from the Volvo Car Group, has named the shark car and said it will be created in 2024.

When Polestar originally introduced the Precept in early 2020, it was seen as a simple concept car, although a notable one was intended to announce the direction of this new company. Polestar stated in September the same year that Precept will start production. Polestar did not say when it could happen, only that it will be "before 2025."

Polestar has released teases and some facts about its Precept since then, including a handful of YouTube videos that provide an insight into the entire design, development and, presumably, production process. Polestar's latest film focuses on the inspiration for the exterior design.

Most of the nearly four-minute film is spent with Nahum Escobedo, Precept's exterior design director. So, what got the angular outer lines? Sharks and airplanes, at least in part, according to Escobedo.

"We also wanted something that was really elegant, but still had a certain pace for this project," he explains in the video. "So the shark had this feeling for me."

The sensational back of the Polestar 5 reveals the long air-sharp edge light, another early plan detail that hopes to be kept for the latest model.

Polestar did not disclose any technical details, such as battery range or driveline, in this new video. We know that it will come after Polestar 3, an all-electric SUV that will start production in 2022.

Polestar's first production vehicle was the Polestar 1, a Grand Tourer plug-in hybrid. In 2020, the all-electric Polestar 2 car will be released. There is no information on what Polestar 4 is, provided the company will stick to the number designation.

The latest information about the Polestar 5, the electric car formerly known as Precept, comes on the heels of the company's two major growth and financial maneuvers earlier this year. Polestar announced at the end of September that it had reached an agreement to open up to the world through a consolidation for unique reasons with Gores Guggenheim Inc., in an arrangement estimated at $ 20 billion. Following the implementation of the consolidation, the joint venture will be owned by another public organization called Polestar Automotive Holding UK Limited. The company will be listed on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol "PSNY".

Polestar 3 will be manufactured in the USA, the company said in June. Polestar 3 will be built in Ridgeville, South Carolina, on a site shared with Volvo Cars. Production of Polestar 3 will start globally in 2022.
